The owners of the hotel were welcoming and friendly.
Although reception and the bar area was adequate, the room we were given was well overdue a refurb, lick of paint and a good clean... The breakfast coice was "Continental" which in my book does not describe cereals, toast and juice - and at £5 was over-priced.

Location and the bed linen were about the only positives about the hotel.
Generally the place could do with some investment. To start wil the outside needs a lick of paint, the glass panel at the enrance was cracke. I had a child with me so this could have been dangerous. We had two rooms, one where the water system kicked in at 6am, the other had a nice collection of cobwebs. Both rooms needed updating, a mismatch of furniture. Having had payment taken prior to the visit meant we had no negotiation. Paying extra for breakfast was also steep.

Could have done with a few more facilities in the room. I.e bedside clock radio, more tea bags milk etc, and extra pillows.

I booked and paid for 5 people to stay here.As soon as they turned up they didnt want to stay. There were broken windows, rubbish around the back and the reception smelt of damp. One of the party took a look at one of the rooms and they decided to leave and go somewhere else. They asked for a refund but was told no way.So i would advise anyone staying here not to part with your money until you have seen the place

The proprietor was friendly
Sadly this hotel has seen better days. Badly in need of some TLC. It was the only hotel we could find that had availibility for the week end in this location.

Taps did not work properly and when hot tap turned on all black stuff and human hairs came out. The shower was the same.

Great shower, ideal location for our visit to Caerleon. Manager was friendly, helopful and informative. Our room was warm, spacious and clean.
We had been put off beforehand by guest reviews on the internet but it was too late to cancel our trip. Our experience was much better than expected from the reviews. Some of the comments by other guests were helpful and others were unfair. We found TV reception poor.

Very good hotel, cheap with friendly staff
Checking out on Sunday was a bit difficult as we had to wait in reception for someone to get to the desk for about 10 minutes

Asolutely nothing accept the locals were really friendly
Ok it was the Ryder Cup but to charge £198.00 pounds per night for a room you could not swing a cat in,also they charged the same for an extra night we had to stay,I had got some blood on a towel on the sunday after shaving, the towel still wasn"t changed when we left on tuesday.
